“Thank you for the opportunity to see Jeannette Walls speak live under the Youth Ambassadors Program. It was an enriching experience in which I am sure I will take many things out of it.
I am sad to admit, I had not been aware of Jeannette Walls’ memoir, The Glass Castle, when I attended her speech, However, the connection Walls had with her audience had me relate with her almost instantaneously. Her worlds have had a profound impact on my philosophy toward life and she has opened my eyes to a new aspect of life. In addition, she was very humorous which added comical relief in her speech. Currently, I am engrossed in Walls’ novel.
I would also like to thank you for the yummy entrees and drink-plus the dessert, I enjoyed the interactive questions following both speeches made by walls. I thoroughly enjoyed attending the speech and I will not hesitate to attend it next year. Once more, thank you."

"It was a wonderful opportunity for me and my peers to learn some valuable life lessons and understand the world around us a little better.
I saw Jeanette Walls’ presentation along with my Journalism teacher and five other students, and it was one of the most memorable occasions of my life, She talked about her bestselling book, The Glass Castle, and let the students know that everyone has a story waiting to be told, Her speech was very moving and when I got home, I stayed up half the night reading the free copy of her book we each received.
All in all, the presentation was one that I will remember for years to come and I would not have been able to attend if the Youth Ambassador’s Program had not invited my school. Thank you again for incredible experience.”

“I would like to give you my thanks for providing me with the opportunity to see Jeannette Walls on March 18th. At first, I was slightly less than thrilled to be attending a lecture by a woman that nobody seemed to know. However, upon reading more about her, I was excited to see that she was not a politician or news commentator-a rare find among the speakers in this series, I soon found myself chomping at the bit, eagerly awaiting the day of the lecture to arrive.
Upon arriving, I was in a fairly unpleasant mood, as I had been having an off week. However, as soon as Ms. Walls entered the room, my spirits were lifted as she smiled from ear to ear. My mood was only raised further as the evening went on. Every word that came from her mouth was a valuable life lesson. As her eyes sparkled with a hard-earned optimism, she taught the audience to value life, whatever it may throw at you, As she gave her closing comments, I found myself among the most enthusiastic contributors to the roar of applause, I had entered the hall barely knowing who this woman was, and I left having found a source of great inspiration, I can think of no greater compliment to Ms. Walls, I thank you once again for giving me this remarkable opportunity.”

“I am incredibly grateful for your generosity and for allowing me and my fellow La Quinta High School students to attend the lecture of Ms. Jeannette Walls.
We found that it was very enlightening, and learned much from her anecdotes and from both her life, and the lives of her mother and grandmother. The brief informational session that preceded Ms. Walls’ presentation taught us much about the homelessness that plagues our nation, and of what we can do as humans to help them.
Thank you for the opportunity to experience this enriching lecture, and please continue to do so for future students to come.”

“The speech was interesting and inspirational and I really enjoyed it. I am happy that they allow students to hear her talk and even happier to have been in a room with her giving a smaller speech. It was life changing because it made me see how fortunate I am to be where I am and it helped me appreciate my parents more and every piece of clothing that I own. I really appreciate your program allowing me to see and amazing author. I am also happy and overwhelmingly grateful that I was able to receive an autographed copy of her more popular books, The Glass Castle. I have already started reading it and it is as inspirational as her speech was! Thank you again for the amazing opportunity.”

"Jeannette Walls opened up a new perspective of what homelessness is. I regretfully admit that I did have the perspective on homeless people based on the way the media and society often tends to portray them. After hearing her speak along with the people of the shelter I was enlightened about the image that is homelessness. I now know that anyone can be homeless based on the challenges presented to them in life and they don’t have to look like the stereotypical homeless person we see in the media. More so I was inspired about Jeannette Walls’ story of how she came from a deprived childhood and yet was able to become a successful woman. She inspired me to never let the small things in life bring me down because I am lucky enough to live a stable life. Often times we blind ourselves to our own struggles and we don’t see the more difficult life someone could be going through such as Jeannette Walls did as a child. I could not have asked for a better, heart-wrenching, and eye opening experience as the one I experiences hearing Jeannette Walls speak."

“I would like to thank you for providing my classmates and me an opportunity to see George Bush live this past Monday, March 7th. It was truly an exhilarating experience. Not many students are fortunate enough to be in the presence of a past president, let alone get to witness his personality and character. There is always much to learn from a person with such amazing experiences and I feel as if I definitely took home with me a lesson or two.
The reception as well as the event itself was most welcoming to students from high schools, and I was very impressed with how it was organized. I am grateful for what I got out of the experience and hope that the Youth Ambassador Board will continue to provide students with the opportunity of listening to inspirational figures so that they may attain a similar experience.
Thank you so much for your generosity and kind heart.”

“I would like to ardently thank you for opportunity to attend one of this year’s Indian Wells Town Hall gatherings. Your program has allowed me to go several times before, each more enjoyable than the last. Each visit has helped me grow as an individual and has helped me understand more about our world. I have learned a great deal about society, and have been able to meet those who shaped, I have always looked forward to these meetings; they are truly one of a kind. Opportunities like these only come once in a lifetime, and because of your kindness, I’ve been able to have this thrilling experience several times. The Town Hall Meetings are an excellent way to get the students in the community active in our world’s many issues. I believe many of these issues will be resolved because of your program. Thank you very much for a truly unforgettable experience.”
